Hidalgo Co. DA’s office agents seize 1,586 pounds of marijuana

HIDALGO — Agents from the Hidalgo County District Attorney’s Office arrested two individuals and seized approximately 1,586 ponds of marijuana at a residence located at Hidalgo, Texas.

Hidalgo County is considered a High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area (HIDTA), where tons of marijuana and cocaine are smuggled by organized crime groups crossing the border from Mexico.

Last Thursday, on December 3, at approximately 1200 hrs., Hidalgo County District Attorney’s Office drug agents who work in this HIDTA received information in regard to a suspicious vehicle, possibly containing narcotics, at the Home Depot parking lot, located in Pharr, Texas.

Based on the information received, HIDTA agents established surveillance in the area and located a gold colored Ford Excursion and proceeded to follow it. The vehicle was eventually followed to a residence, located in Hidalgo.

The agents approached the residence and observed, in plain view, several bundles of suspected marijuana, inside the Ford Excursion.

Further details of the investigation will not be disclosed at this time, due to the on going investigation.
